BEAUTYPRO

Case Study

Since 2010 BEAUTYPRO’s mission has been to offer luxurious skincare products that have maximum impact on the skin and minimal impact on the planet.

To reinforce its commitments and ensure compliance with upcoming recycling regulations – in the form of Extended Producer Responsibility for packaging (pEPR) – BEAUTYPRO’s team joined OPRL and felt empowered from day one.

THE CHALLENGE

BEAUTYPRO is a British beauty brand specialising in innovative skincare products. The team is  committed to delivering great quality products and minimising the environmental impact of its business – and they’re always looking for new ways to champion sustainability as a result.

With the implementation of an ambitious sustainability plan back in 2019, the team had already made significant progress in that area. In fact two of BEAUTYPRO’s proudest achievements have been switching from plastic to paper-based substrates wherever possible, and successfully making its best-selling face sheet masks 100% biodegradable.

Looking to the future the brand had one eye on continuing to improve its sustainability credentials and the other on the upcoming changes to legislation – specifically pEPR. So, the team decided that their focus needed to be on ensuring that their products were getting to customers with accurate recycling labelling.

THE SOLUTION

The question was: how could the brand ensure that it was accurately informing its customers and, in doing so, boost the recyclability of its packaging? BEAUTYPRO’s product development experts looked to OPRL for a solution.

OPRL’s recycling labels are the most widely-used in the UK. That’s because they are recognised and acted on by 3 in 4 consumers, meaning that more packaging is accurately recycled and less goes to waste in landfill.

BEAUTYPRO was able to immediately benefit from OPRL membership.

OPRL’s labelling tool, exclusive to members, enabled BEAUTYPRO to create and download the correct recycling labels straightaway, meaning that instead of a daunting job, labelling their entire product range was a quick and efficient process.  And, having signed up to OPRL’s newsletter and upcoming webinars surrounding pEPR, BEAUTYPRO’s team knew that they would be kept up to date with all the latest news surrounding recycling and packaging, such as the upcoming legislation changes.

THE RESULTS

By accurately labelling its skincare products, BEAUTYPRO has continued to honour its commitments to customers and the planet.

Each and every skincare line is now labelled correctly, reinforcing the brand’s pledge to make recycling easier and more efficient for their customers. And BEAUTYPRO’s packaging is compliant with the new pEPR legislation way ahead of the deadline.

Membership has also boosted the product development team’s packaging recycling confidence. Thanks to the support from OPRL’s recycling gurus they are prepared for the future.

“Joining OPRL has been really empowering for us. The labelling artwork was available to download from day one meaning that we could apply them straight away. And we’ve also signed up to the newsletter and webinars so we know that we’re getting up to date insight on all the legislation and more. Not only has OPRL put the power to improve product sustainability in our hands, their team has also delivered quality customer service and a totally seamless user journey. I’d recommend OPRL membership to any brand looking to future-proof its recycling credentials.”
