OPRL achieves ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certification
We’re pleased to share that OPRL has achieved ISO 9001 Quality Management and ISO 27001 Information Security Management certification, providing independent recognition of the robust processes that underpin the support, tools and services we provide.
For our members, quality, accuracy and the responsible handling of information should be a given. So, while we’re incredibly proud to have achieved these internationally recognised standards, what matters most to us is what they demonstrate about the way OPRL operates every day.
And the feedback from our independent auditors gave us plenty to be proud of.
What do ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 mean for OPRL?
ISO 9001 is an internationally recognised standard for quality management systems. It focuses on having effective processes in place to consistently meet customer requirements, monitor performance and continually improve.
ISO 27001 is the international standard for information security management systems, providing a framework for managing information securely and identifying and addressing information security risks.
OPRL’s certification covers the support we provide to businesses around the verification of packaging recyclability, the identification and provision of appropriate label artwork, and knowledge of the factors affecting this.
In practice, these certifications provide additional independent assurance that quality and information security are embedded into how we work and how we support our members.
More than a certificate on the wall
Achieving certification is fantastic. But some of the most valuable feedback came from what the auditors observed about OPRL as an organisation.
The independent audit highlighted the strong commitment of OPRL’s leadership to promoting a culture of quality throughout the organisation, with quality and information security integrated into our wider business processes.
It also recognised something particularly important to us: our focus on our members.
The auditors described OPRL as “very customer focused”, recognising the processes we have in place to understand and meet requirements, monitor satisfaction and continually improve the relationships we have with the organisations we support.
The wider audit similarly found that OPRL focuses on enhancing customer satisfaction by ensuring requirements are determined, understood and continually met. That external recognition means a lot because these aren’t processes we’ve introduced simply to achieve certification. They’re audits of the processes that OPRL continues to evolve and follow to provide the reliable, expert support our members need as the packaging landscape evolves.
A team effort and a commitment to keep improving
Achieving both certifications has involved a huge amount of work across OPRL, reviewing and strengthening processes and making sure quality and information security are firmly embedded throughout the organisation.
That work paid off. Our Stage 2 assessment was successful, with no nonconformities raised, and the auditors recommended OPRL for certification.
But achieving ISO certification isn’t about reaching a finish line.
Continual improvement is an important part of both standards and something already embedded into how we work. The audit recognised that OPRL continually evaluates and improves the suitability, effectiveness and performance of its management system.
As OPRL continues to evolve – from our member support and technical expertise to the tools and resources we provide – we’ll continue looking for ways to improve too.
Because whatever comes next for the packaging landscape, we want our members to know OPRL has them covered.
